Setting Sail

Movement practiceThe journey of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner project got underway in March with a week of research and development at Southbank Centre. Working with children from two schools, the artistic team explored the poem through music, movement and acting.  Director Andrew Steggall explored masks and expression with the team and  composer Pete Flood created percussion using nothing more than empty plastic bottles and wooden spoons.  Choreographer Alex Reynolds explored tableaux and movement to express the sun, and composers Andy Mellon and Brendan Kelly from Bellowhead began developing the musical world of the piece. Here are some photos from the week.
